Bee blocks.

I joined 3 virtual quilting bees this year and I’m having such a blast!  The ladies in these groups are so talented and inspiring.

I literally stalk my mail lady at the beginning of the month, waiting on my fabric packs to arrive.

It’s hard to stay motivated sometimes to finish a quilt you’ve started, but now I get to play around with different fabrics, try out new blocks patterns AND not have to do all the work myself.  Love that!

These are 2 of the 3 blocks for March:

{Modern 12} Bee.

Jeni wanted Patchwork blocks in shades of mustard/yellow, grays and teal/aqua.  (P.S. how adorable is her blog??  She has the best sense of color.)

Aqua is my favorite color and  yellow my least favorite, but I am totally loving these colors together.   So modern and fresh.   We used this tutorial by The Sometimes Crafter.  This is the 2nd tutorial of hers I’ve used and they are so easy to follow and well written.

Threadheads Bee.

For this bee, Pam asked us to make Wonky Stars using some plaids that she purchased on vacation in Jamaica mixed with solids.

Again, not something I would have chosen myself, but I LOVE the end result.   (Are you seeing a pattern here?  Bees are rocking my world in terms of thinking outside the box!)   Here’s her two finished blocks from me.  Made using this tutorial.  (Click on the photos to enlarge.)

I can’t wait to see these quilts all finished and I’m getting excited about it being my turn.   I’m up next in April for the Threadheads bee so I need to figure out what design and fabrics I want to use.  I guess I might want to get on that considering it will be April in about 5 seconds…

  1. I feel the same way about quilting bee blocks. I’m in two and they have completely inspired me and gotten me out of my comfort zone. I’m learning so much and having a great time too.

I truly appreciate your comments, thank you for taking the time to leave one! Lindsey
